Believed to be centrally located and bring the quick access to all parts of the country, Nay Pyi Daw was choosen to be the new capital in Myanmar in July 2005.
The country shifted its former administrative capital of Yangon to Nay Pyi Taw, about 390 km to the north, in November 2005. Nay Pyi Taw is located between middle mountain range of Bago Yoma and eastern mountain range of Shan Yoma.
The new capital covers an area of 7,054.37 square-km and has a population of 924,608, according to official figures.
Despite of all the suspicion about the capital moving, Nay Pyi Daw is heading with its massive constructions after emergence of departmental buildings, houses, main roads, markets, hotels, motels and resorts around the region as the early phase over the past four years.
3 new towns were established to add the total townships here to 8 includes Oathara Thiri, Dekkina Thiri, Poppha Thiri, Zapu Thiri, Zeyar Thir, Pyinmana, Lewe and Tatkon .
At the current time, Myanmar continued to move its remaining government ministry offices from the former capital of Yangon to the new administrative capital as the final phase after most of the offices were well relocated there.
8 lanes- highways, train station plus 42 shopping complexes appears fast to attract visitors to this new city. Moreover, the rising of temple, germs factories and museum features potential attractions for Nya Pyi Daw.
